Online my account is full but on the desktop app it shows less space is used.
Hi Guys,
My local Windows Dropbox is fully synced with my online Dropbox. Windows Explorer file/properties shows my Dropbox folder is 576 MB but to my surprise, dropbox.com and dropbox app both say my dropbox is full. I have checked the plan tab and found my regular file size is 3.4 GB which is not correct. My shared folder only takes less than 100 MB. What is going on here? Why the discrepancy? Any inputs?
Thanks,
Tao
We can confirm that the most recent releases of Dropbox should have resolved this issue. Users affected by this issue were unable to see all of the backups on their account. This meant that when they believe they deleted some or all of their files, there could still be backups taking up space on their account. This should no longer be affecting users who should be able to see all of their backups.
You can find out deleted information on disabling and deleting backups below:
If you disable the backup and choose to "Leave content in Dropbox", your backup content would still be there until it was permanently deleted.
When you go to the Backups page and see no content, be sure to check the deleted section, too.
You can download the files from this location if you need to store them locally on your device.
To clear out the data from the deleted backup, follow these steps:- Navigate to
dropbox.com/backup/all - Click on
Show deleted backups - Select their backup and click on
permanently delete
Some users did not have backups, but they were members of shared folders which were taking up space on their accounts. You can remove shared folders using these instructions.

Hey IMPORTADORA ROBLE ,thanks for the screenshots!
Can you clarify what you mean when you say: "...it won't let me back up my dropbox folder, only a folder where dropbox isn't in it"?
Since Backup is enabled, as you said, you'd need to disable it, and move the content back, in order to gain some space.

When I go to the backup page and try to do the backup it won't let me do it to the dropbox folder... only on a different folder that isnt the dropbox folder. I already disabled it and moved the content from the folder but it still says I exceeded the capacity limit and that I need to buy more space.

IMPORTADORA ROBLE, can you also check https://www.dropbox.com/backups/PC ?
Do you see any remaining files there?

I am on Dropbox basic, and has 3GB storage. The drop box is showing out of space after auto backing up my computer files. I turned off the auto back up, deleted the backed up file and also permanently deleted the backed up file. But the drop box is still showing out of space.
Any one can help with this case?
Thanks in advance.

Hey EJ08, thanks for letting us know about this.
Do the backed up files appear in your backup page online as well?
If so, can you try to delete them from there?

I checked drop box online and there is nothing in back up or deleted folder either.
Later I found the back up was in the dropbox/PC.... thanks for your help.

Hey diveactive, thanks for coming to our Community.
If you take a look at your backups page, do you see any files taking up your space?

Some time ago I got a notification that I used 1.88gbs of my 2.00gbs limit. On checking my folder I just deleted all the files to make room for more capacity. Right now there are no files in my folder, but DropBox is still sending me reminders that I have almost reached my limit!! How does this get resolved?
