Shared Page and Plan Page Don't Agree
Could someone clarify why the Shared page and Plan page don't agree?
Shared shows everything that's been shared with the account, right? Which by what's shown on screen is something like 1.7 GB.
The Plan page says I'm at 2.1 GB and that everything on the account is a shared file. It confirms that there are no backups taking space, and no "regular files" (whatever that means) taking up space.
Maybe math is not my strong suit (which is at the cleaners), but I'm reasonably certain 1.7 does not equal 2.1.
So what's that all about, hunh?

Hi jonsymbolgoodman, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
The sharing tab might show an approximate amount of data for sizes over 1 GB.
You can calculate the exact size of the folders by following these steps. I'd recommend checking the first folder which shows 1 GB in total on that page.
Keep me updated with any details!

Thanks -- I'll try that. ...but could it really be off by nearly half a Gig? 🤔

You'll need to go to the parent folder above this folder, and then click the ellipsis that appears on the right.

Jay...there is no folder 'above' that -- the three folders shared with me are there in the side menu and also mid-screen.

The ellipsis should be on the right then when you hover over the folder, like so:

So the folder above which is displaying as having 1 GB in Shared, actually has 1.45 GB in it which is only visible if you drill down to find that data, folder by folder. This is extremely disappointing because it's as if Dropbox would rather not be clear about how much storage you're using so you'll go over on purpose.
This has kept me from doing my full job for weeks, trying to figure out where the problem was. If you can display 638 MB, then you can display 1.5 GB in the same read out, and make it easier for people to manage what is going on in their account.
I still don't know why my total is different from others who are accessing the same files, but at least I have a little more information to go on...
Ultimately it is true: the Shared page and Plan page don't display the same things, even if they are labeled as the same things. - Jay2 years ago

We appreciate the feedback, it seems like the site was rounding it to 1 GB since it wasn't at least 1.5 GB.
We take all comments into consideration when improving the Dropbox site and services.

I think the real issue is this: why does anyone have to do anything to see the folder sizes on the All Files view?
The baseline concept here is the storage of data, and clearly Dropbox is certain down the bit how much there is in any account. Hiding it feels duplicitous... I've lost pay over this.
"How are we doing?" surveys about a company are common, and they always have that "how likely would you be to recommend us to a friend or colleague?" question. I almost always answer this with the lowest possible score, because I'm an adult, and 99% of folks I know are adults, and they can make their own minds up, regardless of how happy I am with a company, so I'm not likely to recommend them. But should I be faced with rating Dropbox in such a way, it'll be the lowest possible score for very different reasons...
