Can't add a single folder to backup

I'm trying to get the Dropbox app to automatically back up a single file in on my computer. It's the file I keep all my work documents in. But for some reason, whenever I'm in Preferences to set up that backup, I can't mark that file to be backed up. I click on the box, but it remains unchecked.

And when I go to click on the arrow beside that folder, to view the folder's contents (thinking maybe I can do a "select all" thing), the whole window goes completely blank for some reason. Like so:

I'm at the end of my rope, here. I restarted my computer, logged out and back in, moved the Dropbox folder so that it's located in the same drive as the folder in question... it feels like I've tried it all.
I even said screw it at one point and tried to have it back up my whole Documents folder. It was able to select them all, but of course I hit another error message, seemingly unrelated to the initial issue.

Any help, friends?

Sorry to see that you're having this issue, AKEditing.

Can you please check the sync status and the version of the Dropbox app?

You can see this, by hovering over your Dropbox icon.

Also, what is currently the location of both the Dropbox folder and the folder in question?

Keep me posted and we'll go from there.

    Sure thing.

The sync status seems to be fine. It says "no issues." The version of the app I'm using is 183.4.7058

The Dropbox folder and the folder in question are both in the "Data" drive (D:). More specifically, the folder in question is inside the "Documents" folder, which is in the 😧 drive. And I don't want to move the documents folder back because there's much more space on this drive than the other.

    Hope this helps. Thank you.

Hey AKEditing, sorry to jump in here, but could you try renaming the folder and let us know if you still get the same results?

Just tried it, and I'm still facing the same issue.

HI AKEditing, if you're not already using the computer backup feature, could you clarify where you're seeing the option to add this folder to your account? Is this in the selective sync window?

Is the folder already visible on the Dropbox site itself?

Could you attach a full screen screenshot (while hiding any personal names or info) showing the first image you posted, so we can understand what you're looking at.
