Hello Everybody,
For any users running Windows 7 without Service Pack 1, Beta Release 171.3.6071 should get your Desktop app working again. Please let us know if you experience any issues after installing the beta release and I can pass that information on.
Best,
Ben

Thanks for the update, ATC International!
SP1 or Service Pack 1, is a set of updates basically that you need to have installed on your computer.
You should be able to find more info about it and how to install it here.

Hi Hannah, I would like to inform that upon installing the SP1 pack, I have successfully installed the Dropbox using the normal installer file. After restarting, Dropbox seems to be working well and is synching files normally, so I hope that there will be no longer any problem.
Thanks a lot for your support and swift replies. I appreciate it a lot.

Hey AT1982, thanks for reporting this as well.
I moved your post to this relevant thread; can you check the info in my reply here, to see if it helps you too?

Hi Everybody,
I have been in contact with the relevant team and I have a small update and a path forward for those still experiencing this issue.
We haven't had any users report this issue if they have Service Pack 1 installed. We recommend this as a first step in troubleshooting. If this is not feasible for you, you may consider contacting Microsoft Support to resolve any issues installing SP1.
As far as what Dropbox can do: In order to further diagnose the problem, our support team will need to access logs generated by the Dropbox Desktop app. For any users experiencing this problem, open a support ticket here: https://www.dropbox.com/support/email
Reply to this message with the ticket number and I will directly route the ticket to the correct team who will be able to further assist.
Best,
Ben

Hi Ben,
Thank You so much for your help. I tried raising a ticket in the link given by you. The only issue they let me select in the drop down list is "cancellation and refund", which is not my issue. I could not submit a complaint. Please suggest.
