Dropbox desktop app: constant requests to update and after reinstall is not working at all on PC
I've been having issues with Dropbox as of about a month ago - Windows 10, older Ryzen processor, desktop app.
At first, the sync attempts would hang up - it would constantly show it as syncing, and nothing I did would get it to stop. This included resets.
Now today, it kept asking for updates - asking to run as administrator to do so, but never finishing the process after repeated acknowledgements.
I went through an uninstall - it hung up on uninstall. I went to the forums to learn how to do a deeper uninstall and did that. Reinstalled the app on my PC.
Now it won't start when Windows starts up, and when trying to start it manually, it hangs up.
I've uninstalled it completely from my PC and won't be installing it again as I'm not sure what can be done that I haven't already done. I want to let folks know that there is something not right with it and my PC anymore, and I'm tired of fighting it. I'll deal with it through the web, as much as I'd rather not deal with it that way either. The desktop app is really convenient - or at least it was.

I'm leaving the reply here because I responded to the email for Katherine, and I'm not sure it'll be seen.
"I'm having trouble finding my ticket on the website. Every time I try to find it, it bounces me out to the main, generic screen. There are no notifications, and I am logged in. I've disabled all of my browser protections in an attempt to find it and I still can't find it.
On top of this, I do not have Dropbox on my machine because I took it off in order to have stability on my machine, so I can't provide the information requested because previous installations did not work.I never got errors, I got non-functionality and a lot of hangups."

Yes please. There's at least 2 more Windows 10 updates since I posted this that are going to be applied.

I thought about that too, and had disabled my virus scanner during the 2nd bootup, but also checked that the firewall was accepting of Dropbox. The firewall did have Dropbox in the accepted list of programs while this was all going on.

I see, thanks for the additional information MagicEngr - much appreciated.
Have you ensured that this is not caused by a security software like an antivirus, a firewall or some proxy configuration and/or any other 3rd party apps on your computer?
If you have any of these running, could you temporarily disable them and let me know if the issue persists?

Hi Walter -
I'm running Win 10 Pro, version 10.0.19045 Build 10945. I installed it and set it to run as an admin after I did the advance reinstall, and that's when it wouldn't start up when Windows started up, and wouldn't run on a manual activation. I kept getting the little blue circle of waiting death on my cursor every few seconds. When I looked at the system resources, it was demanding a lot of them.

Hi MagicEngr - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Can you please let me know your computer's exact OS version? Also, did you install it with admin privileges after performing the advanced reinstall you mentioned?
Let me know more and we'll take it from there.
