Dropbox won't open as I'm getting an error
I found that my personal files were ending up in a shared file (with an organisation I am part of). I have moved files elsewhere for now. Then I uninstalled Dropbox when I try to reinstall I keep getting the following message. I am using a Mac. I can log into account on the browser. I have spent hours today trying to sort. Siobhan
the terminal does not show the password. The cursor on screen will not move, this is the correct behaviour. Just enter your password and press enter and then add the next line by copy/pasting and pressing enter again. Do this until you are finished with all the lines. After having pressed enter after the last line, reinstall the app.

- dasty3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Hi, I have the same issue/error msg
- dasty3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Solution with advanced reinstall worked for me. Thanks!

Dasty, did the Terminal allow you enter your admin password?
- dasty3 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Yes. After having entered the first line. On first attempt I also got the "sorry, try again" but second attempt it worked and then I was able to continue to add the remaining lines as per the instructions. Once I was finished in the Terminal I closed it and installed Dropbox desktop app again and it worked
Not sure if it's relevant but when I reinstalled the app, I had to remove my machine from the linked devices list and add the one which was flagged as current machine (even though obviously the same) but seems they are considered as separate ones in the app after this fix.

I don't know what I am doing working. At one point it did let me add p/w. Is each line of new text supposed to be on a new line?
I read it as copy/paste/enter.
It is very frustrating. Have been trying for 3 days.
- dasty3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Yes copy/paste/enter for each line sounds correct. You don‘t need to worry about it being on a new line, this is done automatically.
Maybe check again that all docs/links to the former dropbox app are removed? - Sydenham3 years agoExplorer | Level 3
I can copy and paste first line, but when I try to type password, nothing appears.

sorry not sure if I understand correctly. What do you mean with nothing appears? Password is not accepted?

Iyry to type password, but no letters appear on the screen.
