I'm trying to make files online-only, but they still take up hard drive space.

Application Affected
(Dropbox)
Device
(Dell Latitude 5510)
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
(Windows 11 Pro 23H2)
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
(228.4.556)

Question or Issue
I am trying to move a large amount of data (1TB) of of my internal hard drive to Online-Only. The problem is I run the "Manage hard drive space" utility, the Dropbox on hard drive space shoots down, but then I check disk space and no change. If I close and re-open the utility, it shows the Dropbox on hard drive bar being full once again. My files are starting to sync again, so I am not sure if that process needs to be completed first. The Dropbox cache is also empty.

Hi there, jthompson111 welcome to our Community!

You mentioned that your files start to sync again. Would you mind clarifying when does this happen?

Also, after changing your files to online-only, what does the app's syncing status report? I'm asking because the app needs to sync the changes first, before the space can be released on your device.

Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!
