Navigating within the Dropbox folder in File Explorer in Windows 11 is very slow
I'm having an issue when navigating through the folders in the Dropbox directory on Windows 11. It is taking approximately 30 seconds to open any folders within the Dropbox folder. I timed one just now with a stopwatch, it took 32 seconds to open a folder. Other drives on this PC load up quickly, but also other directories in the same SSD are working fine and open instantly, so it's not a faulty drive.
I have restarted my PC several times, tried restarting Windows Explorer via task manager, doing any updates, and making sure there aren't any Sync Issues within Dropbox. I have also completely removed any files larger than 4GB from Dropbox via 'Manage Hard Drive space', in case it's a large file issue.
It wasn't happening a couple of days ago, but I did notice this issue in the past, and it seemed to be fixed by a Dropbox update some years ago. I am seeing that this same bug was reported around 2021, 4 years ago. Apparently, the same issue is back now.
For now, my workaround is Right Click > Open Folder in New Tab, or adding a folder to Quick Access. Either of these options nulls the bug, so I've narrowed it down to only happening when you open a folder by double clicking, right-clicking open, or hitting Enter to open.
System info:
Windows 11
Version 24H2 OS Build 26100.4652
HP Omen 30L
Intel Core i9-10850k CPU - 32 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 - 24GB VRAM
Regarding the following thread on the Microsoft community, I uninstalled the iCloud app. It resolved the problem. I have never tried to reinstall the iCloud app so far.

I just started having the very same issue. As soon as file explorer navigates to a subfolder in Dropbox, it is painfully slow to get into the folder. I seem to have to right click and open the subfolder in a new tab/window with file explorer and it works. It's such a waste of time especially with several documents in various folders.
I have not found any fix for this.

Same problem occurred after a power down reset on 8/6 first noticed on my DrobBox files. I have shutdown both iCloud and OneDrive, but no difference. I have made all DB files available offline, but no difference. I can open the folders in a new tab, or I can open the folders in the Navigation pane of W11 explorer without delays.

I have appeared to have fixed the issue - as far as I can tell this is a result of conflicts caused by having both dropbox and icloud drive apps (perhaps also onedrive) active on the same computer and them interacting weirdly.
At least for me, when I uninstalled icloud, explorer became snappy again, but reinstalling icloud returned explorer to being extremely slow.
Finally, a combination of uninstalling icloud, restarting my computer, and then reinstalling icloud seems to have fixed the issue. Though I wound up uninstalling and reinstalling it several times, it seems like the specific combination of uninstalling, restarting while icloud is uninstalled, and only then reinstalling icloud managed to fix the issue.

Hello, world! Thank you to everyone for their prompt replies and suggestions.
I followed the suggestion and uninstalled iCloud (which I honestly do not use). Once I did that, everything worked perfectly!

Has anyone tried the Icloud fix with One Drive and does it work?

Yes, working with One Drive

I can also confirm uninstalling iCloud and restarting worked.
So Dropbox does not want users to have another cloud services installed to access files? Good one!
