New Dropbox desktop update is re-syncing everything.
This new update has messed how my Dropbox works on Desktop too. I also get the 'syncing' symbol on all of my folders, and for some reason Dropbox has decided that it needs to Sync all ~80,000 files all over again despite the fact that I already had everything set up perfectly how I like it and all the files that I needed for offline/online use were already set.
It's taken about 2.5 hours out of my work day so far because it's clogging up all my time trying to get this mess sorted.

Hey TomHHRS, sorry to hear about that!
As a first step, could you let us know the exact OS version of your computer and the version and syncing status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your menu bar/taskbar at the moment?
Just to confirm, has the update finished or is it still ongoing, and does the number of files seem to go down?
Is the indexing process stuck? Usually indexing takes much less than actual syncing, so you should be good soon.
To expedite the process, have you made sure that the bandwidth is adjusted correctly when using the app?
Let me know more and we'll go from there.

I still have the same issue. It seems to have been caused by the update that also changed the icon and sync status indicators in Windows. This happened last week, and since then, syncing has been continually indexing between 1,000 and 15,000 files for me. That number does not appear to be decreasing but looks fairly random to me.

For me it finished after a night of PC connected to internet and set it not to enter in sleep mode. Finished by the morning, there is no problem since then (over 250.000 files had to be "toched" by dropbox server but all is good now.

Hey Dragos V., thanks for taking the time to post your experience; I'm glad to see that everything's now back to normal for you.
As for you Huginn, are you still having this issue right now?
If you haven't already, please restart your computer and let me know if that helps or not.
Also, if you could send me a screenshot of what you see when you hover over your Dropbox icon, it would be really helpful.

Same problem here. It is crippling my computer and slowing everything down. I have had to pause syncing indefinitely to be able to use my web browser at anything above an infuriatingly slow pace.
DropBox also appears to be arbitrarily flipping the offline/online status of some files.
I'm running Windows 10, version 22H2, OS build 19045.6332 on a Dell Latitude E7470.
Edit: Just after posting this, I unpaused syncing in order to grab a screenshot of the icon. The number of files it shows as indexing is now continually dropping, with only an estimated 8 minutes remaining to finish. I don't hear the fan working overtime any more and it is no longer slowing down the rest of my machine.
So pausing then resuming syncing seems to help correct the weird behavior.
Edit 2: Well **bleep**, the estimated time jumped back up above 20 minutes. And hovering over the task bar icon indicates it is still downloading 15K+ files

Sorry to hear that, Crabtree & Swee. Has the number of files dropped at all since you posted this, or is it still moving slow/seems to be stuck?

I'm having the same problem, once I installed the latest windows update. This is causing me massive problems as I already have a busy workday and my computer is running very slow trying to sync over 54,000 files. The number keeps going up.
I have a dropbox premium account. I'm not happy with this at all. I really don't have time to deal with software issues.

Is the number still going up, NBCVA? If yes, can you let me know how many files your desktop app is currently trying to index/re-sync?
