New icon showing up in macOS dock
Today, a Dropbox icon appeared in my dock that wasn't there before. Does anyone know a way to disable it and go back to the old behavior, where the only Dropbox UI was the menu item?
Hi Everybody,
We have resolved this issue. Quit and relaunch your Dropbox app to remove the icon from your dock. In some cases, caching issues require a second quit and relaunch. Please let us know if this issue persists and I will pass that information onto the appropriate team.
Regards,
Ben

Hey beeflin, this should be resolved now.
Can you reboot your compute and/or quit and relaunch the app and let us know how it goes? - beeflin3 years agoHelpful | Level 5
So far so good, but it has reappeared several times recently. I'll let you know if and when it does so again. Thank you.

Still no luck. Do I need to uninstall Dropbox entirely?

Did you reboot your computer and the desktop app as advised earlier Scott S.77 ?
If so, you could reinstall the app and let us know how it goes.

Yes, I have restarted the app and my computer multiple times.
I've shut down Dropbox for now. When I have more time I'll deal with reinstalling it.

Hi, I've tried the various solutions mentioned in this thread but the are not working for me.
Ventura 13.3.1
Dropbox v172.4.7555
I've tried:
1). Closing the app and restarting it numerous times.2). Downloading Dropbox and installing it again.
3). Rebooting, closing and restarting the app.
Still have the dropbox icon in the Dock.

I'm having the same issue on the same version. It never used to be stuck in my dock, but now it is. No combo of rebooting, restarting dropbox, etc solves this issue.

It hasn't happened for days now, so it may have been solved by the official fix above.

HI all, I just wanted to mention that this should be resolved with the latest, stable version of the desktop app.
For anyone who hasn't been updated to that version yet, you can find it here.
Let us know of any updates!
