The desktop app crashes on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS 15.3
I have a continuing problem on a MacBook Pro running the latest 15.3 Sonoma with Dropbox Plus. Periodically I will look for the Dropbox icon in my menu bar and it will not be there, and Activity Monitor says it is not running either. I'll start the Dropbox app again, and it will be visible in the menu bar until the next time it isn't. Seems to be random time lengths. Thoughts?

Hi DHK, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Do you have any other apps or services that could be interfering with the Dropbox desktop application?
Is this a personal machine or a company-managed device?
This will help me to assist further!

This is a personal machine. I do have other items running in the background, but I have no idea which could interfere with Dropbox...

Hey DHK, let me jump in here!
Can you clarify the version of the Dropbox app that you're using on your end? You should be able to locate this by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon, on your menu bar, next to your WiFi.
Also, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app ever since you noticed this?

I tried deleting/re-installing in the past and it came back. However, I just deleted the app and all its dependencies and downloaded and installed v. 217.4.4417. I'll let you know if it happens again.

this has been happening to be for nearly a year as well - it is SO annoying because i work across two computers and i frequently find that my files are not synced across devices because of it. I'm actually pretty close to moving to another online cloud storage since no one in Dropbox was able to tell me why this was happening or how to fix it. i will be very interested to see whether you identify a cause.

Hi there nraihani - sorry to hear about this.
It sounds like you've already contacted our support team about this. If that's right, could you let us know your ticket ID so that we can look it up in our system?
Otherwise, please let us know your computer's exact OS version and the version of the Dropbox desktop app installed there as well.
Any additional information or screenshots are more than welcome!

Just to let you know I discovered that the Dropbox app was not visible in my menu bar again... might have disappeared before today, as I usually only look at the app periodically

Sorry to hear that, DHK. Can you also go ahead and perform an advanced reinstall instead?

I performed the advanced reinstall yesterday and this morning when I opened the MacBook dropbox was not running.

Thanks for giving that a go! Can you also make sure that your desktop app has been updated to our most recent version, in case itβs not already?
