Dropbox Passwords app does not send notifications to allow new device
Trying to log into my Dropbox passwords app….will not send notification to any device or computer to allow log in. Something glitched in their system the other day. Logged me out of all my account. I now cannot log back in. I can log into Dropbox, but not Dropbox passwords. Notifications to allow access to Dropbox passwords is not working. No way to log back into my passwords account. Won’t allow me to log into Dropbox passwords via desktop either….so frustrating!!

No need, I’ve reset the account and started again. Looking through the community, it looks as though this issue has been around for a while and not been solved. I don’t have that many passwords saved, so it’s not a big issue. But a couple of things could’ve helped:
- users should be asked to create the password recovery file after creating the account. You have to go and find the option. I’ve done it now.
- there should be an easy way to SAVE the password recovery words, not just print it out. Who saves paper these days?

In that case, may we reach out via email to have a further look internally jplatts?

Hey there, pemagaley!
Can you please follow the steps below, and let me know if they make any difference?
-Open the Terminal app
-Paste the following command: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -f -R /Applications/Safari.app
-Press Enter to run the command
-Restart Safari - jplatts2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
I cleared all history in Safari on my Mac. Also tried installing Chrome. No change. What happens if I uninstall the extension and then reinstall - will I still have access to all the passwords I’ve saved in the past?

Hey there jplatts - thanks for clarifying that for us.
Could you maybe clear your browser's cache or try another browser and let us know if this persists?

I haven't turned on 2FA. I'm referring to the recovery codes in the security settings - "Get security codes to use when you can't access your phone or email". Are these the ones I want - I'm guessing not

Hey jplatts! When saying you have the backup codes for Dropbox, do you mean the recovery codes for 2FA? In this case, they’re not the same, I’m afraid.
Have you tried removing the Dropbox Passwords browser extension and installing it again? Are you still having trouble accessing your Passwords account after that?

I have the same problem. I updated my version of Safari on Mac OS and Safari Passwords needed to be reverified. I got a security code which was accepted. But then had to check Safari Mac OS for a notification. Nothing received and I've tried resending. I'm still looking for the recovery codes - not sure I have them. And Dropbox Passwords is only installed on this Mac. I have the backup codes for Dropbox - are these the same?

Hey pemagaley! Did you save the recovery words Dropbox Passwords provided the first time you set up the account? If yes, can you use them to sign in and let me know if that works?
