iOS Dropbox app won’t acknowledge Microsoft Word app
I’m on Dropbox version 274.2 and Microsoft Word version 2.60. Today I started having an issue where trying to open a Word doc in my Dropbox app prompts me to install Word, despite the app being installed and up to date. If I tap through, Dropbox then sits waiting for Word to download, and never opens the document.

- Kerry123 years agoExplorer | Level 4Megan, I just did an update as well and I think that’s when it started happening. I have an iPhone and I did the iOS update 15.4.1
Why does Dropbox not have a phone number to contact anyone for support? - Kerry123 years agoExplorer | Level 4Same. Mine was after an update .
- Kerry123 years agoExplorer | Level 4Also, I can open Microsoft and excel directly through their apps and get all of my documents there. But when I go through dropbox to open up excel or word, it asked me to install the app.

This is a problem for us too - can't open Excel files through Dropbox - asks to install the Excel app which is already there. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Excel to no avail. As suggested above, installing the Office app - it still goes to Excel Install
Very annoying- we use this daily across multiplpe devices and worksites for sharing info!
Needs a fix ASAP
- Zoltan3 years agoHelpful | Level 5Dropbox really need to solve this issue now. Dropbox is loosing its functionality with that. We are using both excel and words through multiple devices to share information. Without a solution here absolutely no reason not to find another platform. It has to be fixed now, we have been patient- nothing happened

I am on iOS version 15.4.1, Dropbox version 276.2, and Microsoft Office version 2.60. I don't know if it's relevant, but I'm on Dropbox Basic and have a Microsoft 365 subscription.
Following the "full reinstall" instructions, I have tried opening word docs in Dropbox while my iPad has Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office, and just Microsoft office. (Up to date apps each time.) In all cases, I get the "install Word" screen that I shared a screenshot of in my initial post.
If I navigate to Dropbox in the Microsoft Office app and select a word doc it opens without issue, and saves back to Dropbox when I close the app. But sfaik I cannot use Dropbox features like "recent" and "starred" while accessing via other apps, which hampers my workflow. - Jenniferchristie3 years agoHelpful | Level 5Same. I have given up reinstalling, Now waiting for a fix.

Hey Kerry12, sorry to jump in but, could you try the suggestion from this post and let me know if it worked for you?
- mduck3143 years agoNew member | Level 2Hi! This all happened after the last IOS update.
OS version iPadOS 15.4.1
Dropbox app version 276.2
Before this past week, I would click the upload button and Dropbox on the spreadsheet and it would go to my Excel app and open it there for edits. Now the only way to get to it is to go to my Excel app go to Dropbox folders and go through manually each one till I find the one I need.
