Sync and backup problems with DataVault
Hi
First post - hope someone can help
I've been using DataVault for many years for storing passwords and other information. It has some form of integration with Dropbox to allow it to share data between my Android phone and tablet. Up to recently it has worked perfectly - but no longer.
When I add additional information to my Datavault on either my android tablet or android phone it will no longer sync nor can I backup to Dropbox. Dropbox is installed on both devices with the same login details but I keep getting the message
Dropbox Exception:com.dropbox.coreNetworkIOException:handshake failed.
How do I fix this? Many thanks in anticipation.
It is showing as a Dropbox issue but that error is showing as an error in the Dropbox link which is what they write in to their own software - so they basically use some code from here to connect the systems together. It sounds like there is an issue in that.

The one I have settled on is called SafeInCloud. It syncs via Dropbox etc and you can import your old DataVault data - good once you get used to it. Also tried Password Safe I didn't like it so much but just my personal preference. But....
THERE IS A NEW VERSION/FIX FOR DATAVAULT ON THE PLAYSTORE TODAY
I've downloaded and installed and it appears to sync OK but I've not fully checked it out yet. WOULD be interested in hearing other folks experience of it but for now I'm sticking with SafeInCloud as I know it works properly

I just purchased a new samsung s22 ultra and after converting over I have just experienced the dropbox handshake you folks are talking about. I have been using DataVault, without any problems really, since it first came out. Looking forward to the patch you are referring to.

Maybe you need to update Playstore, mine shows Ver 6.3.9 updated 18th May 2022

Just updated datavault on Play Store and all is back to normal.
Glad I waited before jumping to another app. Especially as the reason they were delayed was due to the war in Ukraine.
I've used this app for many many years. Didn't mind waiting a few weeks and keep them under those circumstances.

If the software is older than about 8 months old (i.e. no updates) they wont be using the newest APIs which will give you the error you are seeing.
