The Microsoft files on Windows 11 are prompting for a Dropbox sign in every time I try to open them.
Hello,
I have the Dropbox desktop app installed and every time I open Excel or Word this Login screen appears asking to "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office 365"

Hi all,
There's been some progress made on this issue. Here are some new troubleshooting steps while this is being looked into:
- The issue should be fixed for account holders who NEVER integrated their account with Microsoft Office 365 API app.
- If members are still seeing the popup it means that at some point they did login / integrate and then decided to remove “Dropbox For Teams” from MST Office.
- Members that did integrate at some point with the API app and later decided to remove integration, should go to https://www.dropbox.com/account/connected_apps and manually disconnect Microsoft Office 365 app. See attached screenshot.
- Member needs to wait 2 hours and restart a desktop app after disconnecting an app.
This is still being looked into but hopefully this should help some of you in the meantime.
I've flagged all of these cases internally to be looked into.

This worked! Oh THANK YOU! I have been clicking that pop up box closed on EVERY FILE for a MONTH.

BTW, I tried all these other fixes first, and nothing else worked for me until I did the above.
Method 1: Disable Dropbox Startup in Task Manager
This stops the Dropbox application from running automatically when you start your computer, which can prevent the pop-up from appearing.
- Open Task Manager: Right-click on the Start button and select Task Manager.
- Go to Startup apps: Click on the Startup apps tab on the left-hand side.
- Find Dropbox: Locate the Dropbox entry in the list.
- Disable it: Select Dropbox and click the Disable button at the top.
Method 2: Disable Dropbox integration from Microsoft Office
This method involves turning off the integration within the Office program itself.
- Open an Office application: Launch an application like Microsoft Word or Excel.
- Find Account settings: Go to File > Account.
- Manage Add-ins: Under the "Connected Services" section, click on Manage Add-ins.
- Disable the integration: Find the Dropbox add-in and disable it.
Method 3: Check Dropbox Settings
You can also check your Dropbox application's own settings for options related to Office integration.
- Open the Dropbox app: Find and open the Dropbox desktop application.
- Navigate to Settings: Click on your profile picture or the gear icon to open Settings.
- Find Integration or Office settings: Look for a tab or section related to Integrations or Office.
- Turn off the integration: Disable the option to link with Microsoft Office 365
