I keep getting upgrade pop-ups in my account and I'm already on a paid plan
I already pay for a plan and have space remaining, but every time I log into Dropbox from any of the linked accounts, I get constant prompts to upgrade or subscribe. I'm already paying, so stop nagging me to keep upgrading! And I know the next response from Dropbox will be to ask for a screenshot, but I’m not doing that because this issue has been brought up countless times, and you all know exactly what I’m referring to. If this nonsense continues, we’re just going to cancel entirely.
Hi khan95osu & BalloonAnimal,
Great news, our engineers have identified the issue with this pop up message and just wrapped up fixing it.
You shouldn't have any more issues like this but by all means, please met me know if you do.

This issue is NOT resolved. I have experienced it the last several times I logged in, including TODAY.

Hi i-hate-popups,
I understand your frustration. Can you send us a screenshot of one of the pop ups?
Also keep in mind, Dropbox will always have marketing so there will still be pop ups from time to time.

Three things here: the upper blue banner in the background, the bright [Upgrade] button by the User menu in the upper right, and the obvious popup in the fore.
THREE calls to action on ONE screen, one of which NEVER goes away, and two of which pester the user CONSTANTLY.
"Dropbox will always have marketing."
Do you mean literally every second that I use your product? In three different ways at once? How bad is business? Should people sell or short your stock? Your response here is nearly as tone-deaf as the UX is infuriating. Dropbox should remember that it is cheaper to keep existing customers than to acquire new ones.
I already pay for your product! I only use 3% of what I am paying for! Don't ask me to upgrade my account every time I log in; it's rude, ungrateful, and tells me you don't care about my experience with the service I am already paying for; you just want my money. Don't even ask me to upgrade until I have hit 75% of my storage capacity, and then, only do it once a month or so.
These messages, when they do become appropriate, should only appear ONCE per session at the MAXIMUM. Use the banner for new features, sparingly, and once I dismiss it, it should absolutely stay gone for the rest of that session. What's ridiculous here is that it is not even a new feature, but a call to spend more money.
The popup is the most annoying, and it happens at nearly every major screen transition. What I mean by that is:
On login = popup
Click to settings = popup
Click to home = popup
Click to a screen or menu option under "More" grid button, Dash, Replay, Docsend, Reclaim.ai...these are external links so the bug does not happen here. However, if the user selects the top option, the Dropbox home link, then popup = true.
Thus, the popup happens at nearly every major screen transition.
I didn't test/document extensively for the banner, but it does also annoy me, and seems to be just as persistent as the popup. It takes up valuable screen real estate, and the popup requires an extra click CONSTANTLY. Both of them absolutely ruin the UX, and truly make me hate your product. As for the button, meh, but wait until the user hits a meaningful percentage of space used before marketing more.
I took 13 screenshots of this phenomenon, but only uploaded the one picture for now, as I do not have time to redact my personal information out of every photo in order to post publicly.
Based on the timestamp of the photos I took, this even happened 10 times in 7 minutes. The other three screenshots I took roughly half an hour later, and was able to easily replicate this bug at each transition to a new major screen, all within moments of one another.
I see from the posts on this forum about this subject that this goes back at least 3 years, and up to 2 months in this very thread, which has been marked as "Resolved." It obviously isn't.

Yeah, those upgrade prompts can feel really intrusive — especially if you’re already on a paid plan. It definitely comes across more like nagging than a helpful reminder.

you bought a new BMW, and it has the ability to heat your seats, but you can't turn them on without paying $9 a month. Every time you start your car a popup appears on the dashboard reminding you that your butt is cold because you haven't paid. then you pay $9 a month, your butt is still cold. you get another popup on your dash when you start the car, $9 is only the starter heat plan, goes up to level 5 only. If you want to go to level 10 it’s $15 a month… this is how the world works now thank you very much.

Thanks for sending that on i-hate-popups I completely understand the frustration as from what you've described, these pop ups are not behaving as intended.
I've reached out to the relevant parties within Dropbox to try and address this on your behalf. As soon as I have an update, I'll let you know.

Hi i-hate-popups,
Just wanted to reach back out again with some new context. Our goal is to tailor these prompts based on how you’ve engaged with Dropbox in the past (like noticing when you’ve dismissed or seen something, so you don’t have to see it again).
Sometimes our systems don’t get the full picture of those interactions because of Adblockers, which means you might see a message more often than intended. If you are using an Adblocker, I'd recommend whitelisting Dropbox.com in the meantime and letting me know if this makes any kind of a difference
That said, we really appreciate you bringing this up. Your feedback helps us improve, and we’re actively working on updates to make these messages feel more relevant and less repetitive over time. Let me know if you notice any difference after adjusting your adblocker settings, or if there’s anything else I can assist you with!

Hi i-hate-popups,
I just wanted to check in to see if you had an chance to read my last message and if so, did whitelisting Dropbox.com make a difference?
Any information you can provide would be brilliant!
