I am experiencing the same issue. I also implemented the feature that once you click on a Dropbox file link typed in Word, Excel, some other platform, etc., it first opens the link in a browser window, but also automatically opens the containing File Folder on my desktop. I need to turn this feature off since my PC lags relentlessly ever since I implemented the feature. I was able to grab a screenshot of both messages/pop-ups that appear. The first appears briefly in the middle of my screen. The second appears at the bottom of the browser window.

Can you clarify your computer's OS version, and the version/status of the Dropbox desktop app as shown in your system tray?
