Notification for two files "File is "online only file" to open it first move it into your dropbox"

I made the screenshot to show exactly what is going on. The issue is that this file and the other one are deleted, or at least I tried to. This notification is just popping up over and over. I tried to find the files in dropbox online and delete them but they are not there. I'm not trying to open these anymore, I had them on the computer the other day and then started to delete them and there was a sync issue. I unloaded then reloaded the dropbox app and these two notifications go all day. I don't want to turn off notifications because there are other notifications that I get that I want to see, the issue is for these files I'm not even trying to open.

Hey sstructural1, sorry to jump in, but would it be OK if we reached out via email to have a further look internally at this point?

Well I reinstalled previously and it didn't work. I just reinstalled again to check and see if maybe it cleared itself but the notification is still showing up.

Hi from me as well, sstructural1

Have you tried to reinstall your Dropbox app, by any chance? Does that seem to make any difference at all?

Hannah I added another file to the mix. I inadvertently tried to open a file and it has the notification going too. So it appears that it's a notification from trying to open a file but it doesn't go away, it keeps popping up even after I restart.

Dropbox 178.4.4811 is the version that I see. The notification did not stop for either of the files. I'm on a windows 11 computer. Windows 11, version 22H2

Thanks for the additional info here, sstructural1.

Did the notification stop for the file you deleted online?

And can you let me know what the version and sync status of the Dropbox app is currently?

You can hover over your Dropbox icon to see this info.

Also, are you on a Mac or Windows computer?

Hi Hannah. I have restarted my computer. I deleted the files from my computer then found one on dropbox.com and deleted it but the other one I couldn't find online at all. The notifications just pop up when I'm on the computer regardless of the program I'm in or if I'm surfing the net.

Hey sstructural1, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Strange issue indeed, but let's see what we can find out about it.

Have you restarted your computer ever since these notifications started appearing?

Where did you originally delete these files from? Your Dropbox folder?

And do the notifications pop up out of the blue or after doing something specific?

Let me know and we'll go from there.
