Notifications for updates on folders do not appear on my MacBook
Hi, I know that a lot of people are annoyed by constant barrage of notification banners, but i face the reverse problem. I don't see dropbox notifications on my mac (its been so for a couple of years now, but i need this fixed now). I work on a lot of collaborative projects, so tese alerts are one way to nudge me to the folders that need my attention.
Notifications banners on my mac for my mail, calendar work just fine. i have checked notification preferences on the dropbox badge in the menu bar, on website, i have allowed for notifications from Dropbox when i am in do not disturb mode etc. My work around has been to manually go to the dropbox icon on the menu bar and check for activity on shared folders. I am on MacSonoma v14.5,

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, quale.
Can you please let us know what the sync status and version of the Dropbox app is, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar?
Also, can you send us a screenshot of the 'notifications' tab in the Dropbox preferences?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot for the quick response. I recently changed to offline viewing in the hopes of a change, so it says still syncing. but the issue existed even before this. I have attached the screenshots below,

Thanks for the additional info and the screenshots, quale!
How long has the app been stuck at "Syncing..." for?

I now see the following. and when i try to open dropbox it says You can’t open the application “Dropbox” because it is in the Trash.
Update: Dropbox magically opened and sync done. BUt i have two dropbox folders and one where it says it is unlinked. - Nancy2 years ago

Hi from me as well, quale. Do all of these folders contain the exact same files/folders?
Can you send me a screenshot of them? If there are any filenames you don’t want us to see, feel free to mask them beforehand.

I've had the exact same issue for years too. All notification settings are set correctly in the dropbox app, and macos has notifications turned on for dropbox, but no notifications ever appear.
This broke with either a dropbox or macos update, as this is the same laptop I've been using since 2019, and this use to work!

Hi,
New installation done. Everything is synced, and no notifications! I agree with nedmac, it broke sometime in 2019-20 ish for me as well - Jay2 years ago
