I chose the option to "hide my email" and now I'm unable to update it
I signed up and mistakenly created my account choosing the option to not share my email address. Dropbox created a cryptic default email ID instead, but now I'm not able to update it to my real email address because it tries to send the verification information to the default cryptic email ID, which I don't have access to this default email ID to read the verification information. Is there a way to reset my email ?
Hi bgillespie12, are you 100% certain that you don't have an Apple ID under your email address?
What happens if you attempt to login to the Apple site using your normal email address?
Do you see Dropbox listed when you use these steps to login to the Apple site?

Hey bgillespie12, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.
If I understand correctly, you chose to create your Dropbox account using "Sign in with Apple" and the "hide my email" option.
The email address that's generated when you do this, is generated by Apple, which allows you to sign up for third-party sites like Dropbox without sharing your email address.
Can you try to add your real email address to your account, by following these steps?
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Click your profile picture (or grey circle) in the upper right corner.
- Click Settings.
- Next to Personal email, click Edit.
- Enter your email address and Dropbox password.
- Click Update email.
- Verify your new email by clicking the link in the verification email you received to that address.
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks Hannah,
Yes correct, I chose to create my account using "Sign in with Apple" and the "hide my email" option. Thank you for the steps to fix it, I tried this but I'm unable to change my email as when I select this option, Dropbox prompts me with the following, which I'm not sure how to access the cryptic email apple generated, to follow the set password steps.
Set Password
For your security, Dropbox requires you to set a password to change your email address.
Dropbox will send an email to xxxxxx@privateraly.appleid.com with further instructions. You may need to check your spam folder or unblock no-reply@dropbox.com

I've set a password (greyed out) Send email

I've tried to delete my account also, but it prompts me with the same steps, which I'm unable to fullfil because I don't have access to the default email apple created

Sorry for jumping in, bgillespie12. Even if you chose the “Hide my email” option, you should still be receiving all of your Dropbox emails to the actual email address that’s linked to your Apple ID (unless you disabled email forwarding).
Can you take a look at this article from Apple and see if you can turn off the “Hide my email” feature instead?

Thanks Nancy , I had a look at the article you mentioned, I'm not sure where those settings are as I'm not signed up to iCloud and I'm not using an iPhone, I'm using an old macbook. I'm not receiving any dropbox emails to my actual email address linked to my Apple ID
cheers

Thanks Jay , I've followed the steps and was able to login to the apple site and selected Stop Using Apple ID. I recreated my Drop Box account without using Apple ID and it works ok now, thank you much appreciated :)
cheers
