Vault locked online, but can't lock in File Explorer.
I unlocked my Vault and added files to it. Now when I try to lock the vault again, I have the situation where:
(1) the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer
(2) I logged into my account on the Dropbox website, locked the Vault and still the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer
(3) I logged OUT of my account on the Dropbox website, (with the Vault locked) and still the Vault will NOT lock in Windows Explorer.
(4) I have tried several times to lock the Vault in Windows Explorer, mainly by R-click and selecting "Lock Vault". WHY WON'T IT LOCK?
This is a serious situation, when the Vault is supposed to "hide" files until it's unlocked. It shouldn't be this hard to lock the Vault.
What is going on? I've searched all the menus. It shouldn't be this hard!
Thanks for help... but Dropbox.... you need to make this more straightforward.

Hey jpsumida - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you please let us know your device's OS version and the version and status of the Dropbox desktop app installed there as well?
Also, did you reinstall the app since you first noticed this by any chance?

I have been experiencing the same issue. I lock the dropbox vault on the dropbox website but the vault can easily be accessed in windows File Explorer for a number days even weeks without a problem.

Thanks Megan. I don't have access to my laptop at the moment ( nothing to do with Dropbox) so I can't tell you the Dropbox version number but it should be the latest as I only joined dropbox very recently and always install any updates that I'm advised of. Plus part of trying to resolve this was by logging directly into Dropbox website so that should have been the latest version!
Re the continuance of the problem, yes it had continued for a few days, eventually getting a message about a online only conflict. This had ZERO link to help sort this out and I couldn't find anything in Dropbox help about this, eg conflict with what?
Anyway for some unknown reason it seems to have resolved itself today. But with the great concern that my Vault appeared to be unlocked for days ie it didn't autolock even after 30 minutes.
Re the 20 minutes wait, that's a nuisance if you're trying to get on with something else and want to shut down your computer. Suggest Dropbox create a choice of auto shutdown in a shorter period of time, with a "Vault about to be locked" and "do you want to keep it unlocked for xx more minutes" function.

Hi IreneD, I'd be happy to help!
Just checking in with you, to see if you're still facing the Vault issue you mentioned? Keep in mind that after approximately 20 minutes, the Vault should auto-lock, if you haven't been able to lock it on your end.
Can you also locate your Dropbox icon, on your task bar, next to your WiFi, and hover your mouse over it? That should give you the version of the app, that you're using on your end.
Keep me posted!
