How to disable "Update" notification on MacOS

How to disable "Update" notification on MacOS

Dropbox's new launch on MacOS essentially cripples Dropbox (spotlight is broken, finder cannot search, external drive cloud storage is disabled, etc.)

So reverting to the older version fixes all the issues I had before.

How do I disable this notification in the menu bar Dropbox icon and in the Dropbox drop-down menu - I have to manually click "get started" then cancel it for it to disappear for a while - but it always comes back, so I've had to use a free open-source app called Hidden Bar to hide the **bleep** icon as its unsightly!

Would appreciate any tips/hacks to disable this (perhaps editing some config file somewhere??)

Hi @dragononamac, and thanks for posting your question here.

I’m afraid that it’s not possible to remove this notification completely.

In general, installing the new Dropbox update for MacOS is mandatory, as it was developed to adhere to the requirements that were set out by Apple.

I’ve sent your feedback though to our team, so that they can also see your comments.

I’ll be around the forum, if you need something else.

I understand but it doesn’t work for me so if Dropbox are going to force me to update I’ll have to transition to a competitor such as pCloud, which doesn’t force this upon me

I believe Dropbox should offer users the option between new and retain old functionality

Yes I told you my specific issue, did you not capture it? Bit confused by your response

She's basically asking if there's anything ELSE you need help with, since your original question was already answered.

It doesn’t read that way otherwise the word “other / else" should have been used

this IS my specific issue hence why I've posted (amongst many other posts across other threads)

please prioritise thanks thanks - don't gaslight me
