How can I password protect a folder (not a shared folder)?
The same applies then - you cannot password protect a folder in Dropbox. There are ways of password protecting links when you share things (via a paid account) OR creating secure storage areas via the Dropbox vault (also a paid feature) but there isnt a way of password protecting any regular folders.

Is this on a computer inside of the Dropbox directory?
I'm afraid you cannot. No such function exists.

Thanks for your answer. re "Is this on a computer inside of the Dropbox directory?" I am new at Dropbox so I do not understand the question. Where would I find the "Dropbox directory" to see if my computer is listed there?
Have you installed the Dropbox software on your computer and see the icon on the status bar at the top? If so that is what I am on about

Hi,
is it possible to protect the access on the dropbox folder in my desktop with a password? Otherwise everyone opening my computer can access and modify/delete important files.
I did on the mobile app, but how I can manage it on desktop?
Thanks in advance
Alessandro

So it means that the only way is to use the VAULT folder. Is it only available with a paid account? And the Vault folder is protected also if I access by the desktop version?
thanks
