How can I sync the Dropbox folder that's under my Mac Favorites, and not the one under Locations?
I recently upgraded to an iMac M3 desktop & now have 2 DropBox folders. The one I want to sync with is in the Favorites list & also in my User folder; the other is in the Locations list & it seems to be the one that is syncing with DropBox online. How do I get back to 1 version of DropBox that will sync as it did before the new computer?

Hey Rellek7, thanks for posting your question to our Community.
In understand your Dropbox folder has been moved under Locations.
This is what happens with the new version of Dropbox for macOS on File Provider, which moves your Dropbox folder to ~/Library/CloudStorage.
You can read more about this change here.
If you have any questions, let us know.

I really think I need to start over. How do I uninstall DropBox & reinstall in MacOS 14.1.2?

I wouldn't advise uninstalling and reinstalling the Dropbox app, now that you're on the File Provider version, Rellek7 It might create other issues.
So, let's see how we can resolve this.
Do both Dropbox folders contain the exact same files?
What's the status of the app, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar?

There is a difference in the content of the 2 folders. There are files I save to DropBox on a regular basis; they appears in the Dropbox folder under Favorites but not in the folder in the Locations list nor in the web DropBox

Sorry for jumping in, Rellek7. Can you clarify what’s the current syncing status of your Dropbox app?
Also, if you add a small file within the new Dropbox folder that has been created (under ~/Library/CloudStorage), do you see it on Dropbox online afterwards?

Not sure why it happened but the Dropbox folder in the Favorites list is not listed but it is still in my User folder. I tried saving a document to a folder in my Dropbox & it appeared both in the Locations Dropbox folder & online. Would it be safe for me to delete the Dropbox folder that is in my User folder?

Hi Rellek7, in order for us to have a clear visual, would you mind sharing some screenshots of the Dropbox folders in both paths?
Do you see visible the Dropbox syncing icons in both of these folders?

I am running MacOS 14.1.2; I cannot locate the ~/Library/Cloud Storage folder in the system.
I don't see any specific sync icons in either Dropbox folder

Files now seem to be syncing with the Dropbox in the Locations list not the Dropbox in my User folder

It’s most likely that the ~/Library/CloudStorage directory syncs to Dropbox, indeed.
Can you also send us a screenshot of the old Dropbox folder you see under your Favorites? Just to have a visual of what you see exactly.
