M1 Mac slow sync, weird sync!?

M1 Mac slow sync, weird sync!?

Hi,
I use Dropbox on Android 13, Windows11 23H2 and MacOS Ventura 13.5.1
I edit some excel file on daily basis, it syncs flawlessly and instantly on Windows and Android(S23), however on Macbook M1 it gets weird, the file in App shows synced but when opened it shows an old copy..I tried editing a file on Mac itself and saved it, but Dropbox app didn't recognize any change!, so I quit and reopened Dropbox, after which it recognized the change...sometimes the changed file is uploaded 4 hours later sometimes a day later at it's own whim, sometimes creating a conflicted copy...I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling app, Full disk permission and accessibility permissions are given as well...My internet network is strong as both Windows and Android are on the same network(and same room!) and work just fine..is this a MacOS issue or Dropbox App on M1 issue? It's been happening since long time, like since Big Sur!!! But today I thought I'd settle it once and for all but couldn't and now I am at my wits end...please advice.

Hey @kapzak,  sorry to hear about your syncing issue.

Can you please let us know the app's exact status and version as shown in your menu bar on your Mac?

Also, could you have a look at the app's preferences under the sync tab and let us know your Dropbox folder's location?

Any additional information or screenshots you can share are more than welcome!

Hi Walter,

The status is: All Files Are Up To Date. Dropbox Version is v182.4.6427. The Dropbox folder location is:

/Users/kapz/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox.

I modified an excel file and saved it. Then took screenshots of it saving and dropbox still not updating...you can look at the clock on top right.

Thanks for the additional information and the screenshots too @kapzak

Based on your Dropbox folder's location, it looks like you're on the updated desktop app for MacOS on File Provider

That said, could you update to the latest version of the app from this page directly and let us know if the issue persists?

Okay so I downloaded and updated Dropbox to 183.4.7058, modified a file and saved it, the app still says modified 9 hours ago!

However the file I just modified has sync issues as per this screenshot:

Also, I put Dropbox in Firewall exception, turned off firewall completely...nothing seems to solve the issue, every new file is showing under sync issue dialog box. Only rebooting the whole system updates dropbox files properly.

Hi @kapzak, in the Dropbox desktop application preferences, what do you have set as your proxy?

Hi, the proxy setting is set to Auto-Detect

Could you try switching it to No Proxy, and then reboot the app and machine completely to see if this helps?

Okay I did that and rebooted mac, the pending changes were updated, however new changes are still not being updated, I mean if I open the file from mac the changes are visible, but in desktop app it still does not update and hence on other devices the changes are not being updated as well...
