Hello Dropbox Team,
I am using Dropbox API "create_shared_link_with_settings" for preview and download files for users. So, Preview is working fine but last few days download is not work it's through 400 error.
for download I was change API response URL last parameter dl=0 to dl=1.
Hi @prashant siya,
That's not API issue. As seems Dropbox system has completely disabled all links downloads - new BUG once again. 🤦
I believe this will be fixed soon, since affect many users (almost all actually). 😉
Good luck to all of us.
PS: https://status.dropbox.com/ - no any indication that a main feature has dropped! 😁
Hi @prashant siya,
Thanks for reporting this. I've checked with our engineering team, who is actively looking into a fix for these download issues. I will provide an update when I have more information.
Regards,
Ben
Hi @prashant siya,
After further investigation, there doesn't seem to be a system-wide issue with downloads. Keep in mind that there is a limit to the size of folders that you can download, which the linked folder may exceed. From this Help Center Article:
You'll need to generate download links for folders under the size and file limit. If this doesn't work, let me know and we can take another look!
Regards,
Ben
@BenDBX, There appear some "noises" unrelated to any borders though! For instance I have a folder containing several dozen of files and total size 5~6MB. The link pointing there sometimes works sometimes no.
When I try to download using "Download" button in preview, it ask me to log in!? The link is public! Follows what appears:
Using the same link, when I transformed it to downloading one (dl=1 at the end), the downloading starts normally:
Is this normal?! 🤔 During my first post in this thread try to download resulted in 400 HTTP status on the same link. Now on, it works though. In all cases the links work unstable! This started recently, despite I cannot point exact moment.
Hi @Здравко,
You are actually still able to download shared folders & files without logging in. Upon clicking 'download' you will see a 'Log in or sign up' modal appear, and at the bottom of that modal there is an option which reads 'Or continue with download only' (see attached screenshot). Let me know if you are not seeing this on your end!
Thanks,
Tom
Hi @Thomas-DBX,
Thanks for your reply! I'm able to see this option (you talk about), but it doesn't explain the status 400. I didn't save screenshot at the time of my first post 😕, unfortunately. Anyway... as seems it was some glitch in Dropbox that's in the past already. In this context - when your team starts some rolling out, some more tests are always good idea to avoid such glitches! 😉 (I suppose some maintenance was around that time - not very well planned) Also, meaningless changes like the one to ask such things are... meaningless - if somebody want, the shared file/folder can always be added to recipient's account (as before). 🤷 In such a way just one more click becomes mandatory, but no any benefit as result of this.
Thank you again.
