Hi I'm new to all this so apologies! A friend has shared some music files with me via dropbox.  I have a dropbox account and have installed the app on my iphone.  How do I download the music files on to my phone so I can play them?

Hey there @brownsnoopy!

If you have the mobile app installed, you should be able to preview/play mp3 files either natively (depending on your hardware and OS version) or, if the mobile app can’t find an app capable of viewing your file, you’ll need to install one that can. You can find more info about this here

However, if you’d like to export a file, please bear in mind that it’s separate from your Dropbox account and it’s stored in your device as well (internally or SD).

To export an audio file in an Android device:
  1. Locate the file you want to export and tap on the vertical ellipsis (⋮).
  2. Select Export.
  3. Tap Save to device.
  4. Locate the location you want to save it in.
  5. Select Save.
To export an audio file in an iOS device:
  1. Locate the file you want to export and tap on the ellipsis (…).
  2. Select Export.
  3. Tap Open in.
  4. Select Save to Files.
  5. Choose where you’d like to save it in.
  6. Tap Add.
I hope this helped. Let me know if you have any other questions! :grinning:

I followed the process for IOS. The only issue I am having is that it does not give me the ability to save the MP3 into the my files location on an iPhone. It only gives me the abilty to save into Pages or another App that I have installed. Any ideas?

If possible, maybe you could take a try on your computer by using the other way. I knew a tool named Mac Audio Recording Software, which can grab the audios you are playing on the computer. Hope it will help you.

You can easily import music from Dropbox using Melodista Offline Player!

i always use AMusicSoft Apple Music Converter to do that, because iPhone has its own audio format, so you have to convert them before the transferring process
