Dropbox deleted files from a shared link
Hello everybody! I had a bunch of photos and videos on this account (aprox. 200). The photos were probably about 3-4 years old, and i would occasionally access them. Today when i wanted to see them again, the photos were gone. The only things left on my account are the pdfs, word files and archives. I still have some links of some of the photos, form a conversation where i shared them, but when i try to access them, i get the message that the file was deleted. -the files are not in the deleted files folder -i have no other account, where i could've saved the files -i am 100% sure i didn't accidentally deleted them -no other person has access to my account -i am not logged in on the mobile app Any ideas on how my files were deleted, or any suggestion on how to recover them would be appreciated. Hi! I work from home and share an excel file with other employees. We all make edits to the file and save it so others can see. Typically when I open files, I choose to open them on my desktop and not online. However, this file does not give me the option to open it on my desktop. When I click open, it immediately tries to open it through Excel Online. However, the file is too big, so Excel Online can't open it. So now I can't open the file at all. Please help me with this. I need to permanently delete my files, but I get message "x items couldn’t be permanently deleted".
When I wanted to permanently delete a file or folder (which I may have shared with others or not). I used to be able to delete it in Finder and then would get asked by Dropbox: Delete "untitled folder" from everyone's account and all devices? I then confirm with "Delete for everyone" and proceed to empty the trash on my Mac. Now I log on to my Dropbox account, go to "Deleted files" and select the ones I want to permanently delete. Then confirm this and they were gone, space would be freed up. Well, gone are those glory days of simplicity, because: NOW I get told by Dropbox: "File XYZ will be gone forever for everyone, including for anyone still using the folder. Permanently deleting this folder won’t free up space." I confirm by selecting "Permanently delete" NOW I get the message: "x items couldn’t be permanently deleted" Dropbox tells me – uselessly: "What you can do": "Ask the owner to help permanently delete this" I AM the #!*¥ owner, aren't I? Plus, didn't clicking "Delete for everyone" on the desktop version make it clear that ALL those files have to go? Shurely this is a recent bug. It wasn't such a hassle before to get rid of old files. Modifications on file from Dropbox account A don't show up on Dropbox account B
If I open a file of the same account of dropbox with the USER 1 (Destock), and I modified the file, and then, I close the file. Now, I open the same file, with the USER 2, (online) I see that the modifications made by USER 1 are not made in the file !!! Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance68Views0likes2Comments
I need to delete a video and some photos sent to me that have taken me over my storage limit
A friend sent me a video via WhatsApp that I opened and watched, but it’s taken me over my storage limit, so I want to delete it, but am unable to. I’ve tried using the website and app on iPad and iPhone. This is so frustrating. I have the same problem with some photos and videos sent to me in a folder, it’s so annoying! How does one search files within a shared folder?

Getting an error that the link has been deleted
Hi team - I have an issue that I hope someone can help me resolve. Back in 2023 a client provided me a link to files of documents that he wanted me to work from. I downloaded the files to my computer and went about the work. There now appears to be issues with the work and I am sure that he has added certain files to the folder after I first downloaded it. I have found the email which contained the original link however when I click on it I get a message saying This link has been deleted The owner of this link has deleted or disabled this link. You cannot access it at this time." Given how long ago this was it will take literally days to run through the 'events' to find out exactly when he deleted the original link (as it could have been any time in the last 18 months), but this information would be very helpful.
