Shared Files
34 TopicsIssues when I'm updating a zip file's contents using the desktop app. "System can't find path"
Ok - I have used dropbox for many years to store files that i share content with friends. I just had a request saying that some of the info in one of the zip files I have shared needs updating. I have done this before - but not for a few years - no problem just opened the zip file, edited the contents, then upon closing answering yes to do you want to update the zip file contents. But today, it just says "The system cannot find the path specified" I am using the Desktop App and it does say that it is synced and up to date. This is causing me a huge problem and significant time and effort for all my files, if I cannot simply edit a zip file on the fly. I have read that using the PC App avoids the download, edit, upload route - which is not an option, as hundreds of people have the link to this specific file address. So upset and tired - dropbox used to easily have this function - especially with the PC App and the files being visiable in a window when I use it. Incredibly frustrating to be told i cannot access my own files. Please advise.Solved5.3KViews0likes2CommentsMy files appear to be empty after editing
Hello, I'm on an ASUS Zenbook running Windows 11. I have a shared dropbox folder that constantly has files getting wiped/copied (when they get copied they are empty) showing up on the dropbox. It always shows me editing the file and its usually multiple at the exact same time. All the files have nothing in them and instead are blank. I know you can restore the file but its been happening for months and across multiple different shared folders and its honestly a headache to fix. Help appreciated, thanks in advance.123Views0likes7CommentsHow can I share files within a folder in a specific order?
Question or Issue I'm a pro photographer and I use dropbox to deliver photos to my clients. I number each photo (i.e. "Smith-1, Smith-2, Smith-3, etc...). Dropbox used to share them in order (lowest number to highest) now they share in reverse order (highest number to lowest). I want to change this back to the way it was but I'm having no luck figuring it out. Any help??Solved119Views0likes5CommentsModifications on file from Dropbox account A don't show up on Dropbox account B

Hi, Dropbox community. In April 2019 I was at a funeral where I took some pictures which I saved in a folder here on dropbox. I sent the link to the dropbox to my daughter, which she didn't open at the time. She has never been ready to see the pictures until now, and sadly now they are gone. It says the link doesn't exist. I have been under deleted files, where nothing could be found. The pictures are also gone from my phone, and now my hope is soon gone. I still have the link which I sent to my daughter. Is it possible to do anything at all?? PLEASE HELP79Views0likes1CommentWeeks of Dropbox files are gone. Can I restore them somehow?
HELP! All our Dropbox files from May annd June are gone. We have checked through the app and online and the most recent files available are from the last week of April. This is catastrophic — my wife and I have used shared files in Dropbox for years and years to track bills, taxes and other critical functions. This has never happened before. If anyone can help, please, I ask for you to chime in, thank you.76Views0likes2CommentsIf I move a shared document, will it also get moved for the owner?
A co-worker shared a doc with me. I'm using dropbox on the web. When I'm editing this doc I have an option in my sidebar that reads "Give this doc a home" with a "Move to Folder" button under it. I'm not very familiar with dropbox and I don't want to do anything that is going to relocate the document from the perspective of the guy who shared it. Yeah I know that's unlikely but I can't take the chance and I can't find any information on this anywhere. Can someone confirm that this will only alter the location of the document in my own folder structure and will not in any way alter the location from the perspective of the owner? Thanks in advance,126Views0likes3CommentsCannot delete a shared folder (of which I am the owner). The site keeps glitching.
I cannot delete a shared folder or any files in it (I am the owner). It has some large files in it and nobody needs them anymore. The website just keeps glitching and not letting me unshare the folder or delete anything. IS THIS A SCAM TO FORCE ME TO PAY MORE???? Not cool, Dropbox. Let me manage my situation, please!!! As a starving artist, I do not have extra dollars to give your corporation. Also, you could at least have someone available to HELP ME OUT with this without asking me for more money to upgrade to "eligible for customer service" status. B.S. Come on, dudes....74Views0likes1Comment
