This is still broken. I've used this feature successfully for most of 10-15 years or more. Yes, I rely on kdbx files. More importantly, Android has a built-in capability to identify default apps. While the ability to identify different defaults for Dropbox is handy, it shouldn't break the underlying feature, it should fall back to it, and use Android's 'open with' app selector, rather than their own, which does not allow an open choice.
I don't understand your business model, or the recent incredibly annoying interface changes.
I do know that by the end of today, I will delete my ancient Dropbox account forever. Google drive and Syncthing - especially Syncthing - offer truly greater value and flexibility.
