Cannot Access Files Saved Locally or on App

After downloading the DropBox desktop app for Windows, I can no longer access any file located on my local harddrive. When I open an excel or word file I am getting a notification "Excel cannot open the file because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format on the file."

For PDF I am getting "There was an error opening this document. The file cannot be accessed by the system."

I unintalled the app, but I cannot access ANY file.

Hey Lyra1, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Can you let us know where the files that are having this issue are located?

Are they inside your local Dropbox folder or in other locations on your hard drive?

Could you also send us a screenshot of how these files appear on your end?

    Thanks in advance!

      Hi Hannah,

It seems I was able to resolve the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop app.

      Thank you.
