Can't copy ANY files onto Dropbox

I haven't been able to copy files INTO Dropbox for a few weeks now.   I am on a Windows 10 system, and up until recently I could drag and drop files into Dropbox.  Now I drag and drop and nothing happens.  File simply does not appear.  I can download files that my company places in Dropbox.  Also I CAN upload and download files from my android device.  I just can't upload (drag and drop) from my Windows computer.

A few notes:

Cache has been cleared.

Not approaching storage capacity.

Does not appear to be a problem with file names (even a file titled "Notes" will not copy).

Help please?

Do you have a Dropbox folder located in Explorer? If not, then it sounds like you’re running the S Mode app.

If the app isn’t syncing with the site, try uninstalling it by right clicking the app from the Start menu, and then reinstall it from the Windows Store, if you can’t install the desktop app from the Dropbox site.

    Keep me posted!

Hi msebold, thanks for messaging the Community!

Could you clarify if you’re dragging files onto the Dropbox website, the Dropbox desktop application, or into the Dropbox folder itself?

If you’re getting any errors, what do you see there? Is the app connected to the site?

Try creating a file on the site directly, does it sync to the app?

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks Jay.  I have been using the desktop app and I never actually tried going directly to the web site before.  That works.  I CAN upload files directly to the website and they DO sync with the desktop app.  So, that problem is solved.  Thank you very much!  But desktop app is still a problem.

Problem 2:  How do I find what is wrong with my desktop app?  I had a thought that I might uninstall and re-install it, but I can't seem to locate this app either under Chrome Apps, nor does is show up as a stand-alone program in my Control Panel.  How to uninstall/re-install?

P.S.  I get no error messages on my desktop app.  I just do what I normally do, drag and drop, but no file transfers to DB.  No error message.

I believe it's the app from the website.  However, the DB icon on the taskbar permits me to open "Dropbox for S mode."  I've tried both ways, and neither allows me to drag-and-drop documents into DB.

Thank you Jay.  I downloaded the app from Microsoft and loaded it.  That did it!  Works fine now.  Great job!

    Thanks for your help,

    Mike S.
