"Couldn’t communicate with a helper application" - Can't access large file offline.
Hi there,
I've got a large file (115GB) on my online folders I'm trying to make available for offline access, but every time I try to get it, a pop-up comes up saying:
Couldn’t communicate with a helper application.
My device is a MacBook Pro 13" M2 2022
MacOS Sequoia v15.6.1
Latest version of Dropbox app (downloaded 8/24/2025)
Thanks,
Andres

Hi aschusterp, let's have a look into this!
Have you tried the same thing with a smaller file, and do you keep receiving the same error? Do you mind sending over a screenshot of the exact error message that you see on your end?
One more important thing: Are you using the context menu to make the file available offline, clicking the cloud icon, or double-clicking the file to open it?
This will help us figure out the issue. Thanks a bunch!
