"Display Limit Reached" message when trying to view my photos
Hi---
I keep all my photos on Dropbox. It's usually great-- I open the app and scroll back and go back literally years and years and years. If I want to see a photo from November 2014, I could usually just scroll back there (it takes a while, but always worked).
Today, when I went to do that, I got to the end of 2019 and then my app says "Display Limit Reached" and won't show me any more photos.
I came on to the computer to check from dropbox.com. Nope. Not there either. I cannot see or find or even know where to start to find my photos. THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS.
I pay for a subscription service. My account shows that I have space remaining (a LOT of space) so what's up?
Where are my photos??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Mvj15208 and katehannigan, I hope you’re both doing great!
Has any of you tried to clear the Dropbox app’s cache, by any chance, and reinstall it afterwards?
Does that seem to help perhaps?

Hi Nancy
Thanks for your suggestion, I have just tried both of those things. I cleared cache on the app and then deleted the app from my iPhone and reinstalled it. Unfortunately that didn't help. I can still only scroll as far as August 2012.

Hey Mvj15208 and katehannigan!
Do you know how much available space you have on your mobile devices?
Also, have you checked if you get the same behavior when using the Dropbox website or the local Dropbox folder on your computer (if you're using our desktop app)?

Hi Hannah
I have 19.3GB available on my iPhone.
I can view all of my photos on the Dropbox website. All of my folders/photos are available and accessible though the Files tab on my Computer and iPhone, nothing is missing.
The problem that is happening on the iPhone app Photos tab is only since a recent update. My iPad which I have not updated in a while, has an older version of the Dropbox app and I can scroll though all of my photos in the Photos tab.
Do you know the best way to get Dropbox to fix this issue in the Photos tab and allow unlimited scrolling again?
- bradnewengland934 years agoNew member | Level 2I’m having the exact same problem. Dropbox won’t let me scroll past 2017. It says to search in “Files” but I did not put my photos in files. Dropbox has allowed me to see all of my photos that I’ve uploaded to them up until the recent past. I should have full access to all of my photos, as should everyone. Please, I BEG YOU, please fix this problem! Or I will have to go to a competitor’s platform for backing up my photos. Your forum does not have the functionality to attach screenshots here. I do have one though. Please someone other than a robot look deeper into this. This is unacceptable!
Thank you for your prompt attention to this huge problem. - Nancy4 years ago

Hey bradnewengland93, sorry to hear you’re having the same issue.
Have you also tried loading your photos via the Dropbox website on your computer? Does the same issue persist or is this something happening only on your mobile app?
Also, you should be able to attach a screenshot here by clicking on the small camera icon that should be located above your message box on the forum.
Let me know when you've got more updates!
- aa5924 years agoHelpful | Level 6Yes! This is my exact situation! They need to fix this. I’m going to migrate everything out of Dropbox and cancel it otherwise.

Hi everyone, we apologize for the delay in our response as we were investigating this matter. It's expected to receive this display limit error when trying to view or scroll through a large amount of files via the Dropbox app.
As a workaround, we'd recommend using the Dropbox site via a browser.
