Downloading very large files or saving them to your account

Hi all,

I am trying to download a very large file (circa 150GB) that another user has shared with me. Neither direct downloading, nor saving this file to my own account and syncing with the desktop tool works. I am on Mac OS (most recent version) and I am saving the file to a local drive with enough space. I am on a fixed line on fiber optics, so no issue in internet connectivity. My personal account is a Dropbox Plus account.

Attempting a direct download always results in a failed download after circa 70GB (also on another machine, other network, other OS).

Attempting to save the file to my own account (which has enough) space gets me a 'There was a problem competing this request error.' without any further explanation.

Any ideas? I get the feeling that there is some upper limit for files that I am running into.

Best wishes,

Maarten

Hi Maarten1981, thanks for messaging the Community!

Could you try switching browsers to see if this helps with either the downloading or adding the file to your account?

Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Jay,

Thanks for the quick reply: just tried in two different browsers (Safari and Firefox, had already tried in Chrome): same errors and same failure of the download after around 65-70GB. Any ideas?

    Best wishes,

    Maarten

Hey Maarten1981, can you send us a screenshot of the error, so we can have a look?

Also, how did they share the content with you? Was it through a shared link, or maybe File Transfer?

    Hi Megan,

Yes, here it is (says the same in red at the top of the screen):

This is a file in a folder that was shared with me through a link, not a Dropbox Transfer.

    Many thanks for thinking along!

    Maarten

Hi Maarten1981, I'd need to open up a ticket on my end, in order for us to have a closer look into this, and possibly send this to the relevant department.

Would you be okay with that?

Let me know, and we'll take it from there!
