How to turn on 'open in - Finder'
Some of my team members can't view the open in - finder tab. I want everyone to have this ability so when people share links with each other they can quickly switch to Finder and sync and ite...

3 years agoHey officeemployee205, can you also try a different browser and let us know the results?
A screenshot of the options these members do see on the "open" button, would also be helpful.

The option Open in Finder only shows in Chrome. It doesn't work in any of the other browsers I've tried (Edge, Safari). Why is that?

Hello Nancy,
Chrome used to be my default browser, now it's Edge.
I've cleared the cache, tried in incognito mode, as well as all the suggestions at your link but nothing worked.
Just to clarify, the Open in button DOES appear, it just doesn't show the options to open in Finder.
I attach 2 screenshots, you can see the difference between Edge (on the left) and Chrome (on the right).I do not want to use Chrome moving forward. How can I make the Open in Finder option work in Edge?
Edited to add: this isn't something new, my colleagues and I have all always found that we could only Open in Finder with Chrome. - Nancy2 years ago

Thanks for the extra info! Can you also clarify what’s the current app version of your desktop app? Since the “Open it” option is directly linked to the Dropbox app, I’d like to make sure everything’s in order there.

Hey MarieRCH!
Are ports 17600 and 17603 available?
The Open button requires that the Dropbox desktop app have access to ports 17600 and 17603.
If a firewall or antivirus app is preventing Dropbox from using one or both of these ports, you may need to configure the firewall or antivirus app to allow Dropbox access to these ports.

I don't have a firewall on, so access to the ports should be open, plus the fact that I can access Dropbox files via Chrome but not via Edge suggests that the issue isn't related to port access... It must be coming from my antivirus (I don't have control over its settings, it was installed on my computer by my company) I'll try to reach out to my company IT to see if they can help. Thanks for your help.

Following up to say others of my colleagues working on personal computers with no antivirus installed are also unable to Open in Finder in Edge. So this cannot be the reason, it must be an issue with Dropbox integration with the browser?
Any other thoughts on how to fix this? - Hannah2 years ago

Hi again, Marie, and thanks for the update.
Is it possible that it's some kind of browser plugin that's affecting this? Because if it works in Chrome, it does look browser related.
Can you restore your browser to its default settings and disable any plugins, to see if that helps?
- MarieRCH2 years agoExplorer | Level 4
I've tried disabling all plugins, it didn't work.
I tried in incognito mode, it didn't work.
I've tried login out from my profile and setting up a new profile with zero settings / plugins etc, it didn't work.
Are we actually sure people have been able to use the Open in Finder function in Edge before?

Yes of course! Please do
