My account looks empty, with no files in it. However, I can see my files when using my iPad.

Logged out and logged in and that was all it took to see my files. Not sure why/how the account was switched on the laptop. Anyway everything is back to normal. Thank you all for your help

Normally when someone has this issue, one of the first things we do is double check that you're logging into the same account. Can you go into Settings and check the email in the Dropbox app/website of the empty account?
Then verify that the email matches the one where you receive updates for your Dropbox account
