Show list of files in Dropbox

Hi, I'm new to Dropbox. I have DB basic but never used it on my laptop I got 2 years ago. Until now! An update has caused a factory reset on my laptop deleting all my documents which I can't get back. But there are some on Dropbox automatically saved. I never created a folder so there is one folder with all files in it. It reached the data limit so now there is more files in Dropbox than on my computer.

Is it possible to list all the files in this "folder" so I can pick which files to download and recover rather than search for each file individually in the search box? When I press right arrow to down arrow on All files, no file names appear.

Hi KS88, thanks for your message.

Currently, it isn't possible to get a full list of the files currently on your Dropbox account.

However, you could simply download the folders in their entirety, which would be a zip files containing the files. After that, you can extract the files you need from the zip file.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Thank you for your reply Jay.

I had never used Dropbox before so I didn't create any folders. There are no folders listed on the left side column.

    So I can't download folders.

But I know there are files that were backed up as when I do a search there are some individual files I can download.

Is there a way of downloading files without having to search for the names of them? Because I have no folders to download.

Sorry to jump in here, KS88.

If your files were automatically backed up through our backup feature, can you check if you can locate them in your backups page?

Thanks Hannah. I was able to download a folder that was called External Drive from Backups. I don't recall ever intentionally backing this up.

It contains copies of all the documents on my USB drive, unfortunately none from my actual computer which are the ones I have lost.

As it sounds like the files weren't uploaded to the Dropbox site, then it wouldn't be possible to recover them, unfortunately.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful on this matter.
