Video upload quality is bad
Every time I upload a video from my iphone to Dropbox the quality is awful. Although the videos look perfect on my iphone12, once uploaded to my Dropbox, the image is glitchy. The file is glitchy on all my devices when I view in Dropbox, but plays fine from my photos app on my Mac, iPad, and phone. My WiFi is good, so that’s not the issue. I use Dropbox to share photos and videos from my phone with the person who handles my social media, so it’s important for her to have full rez hi quality images to work with. I have no problem working with still images, but the video quality is awful.

In your case, Larry, since you're using the Dropbox mobile app, you'd need to clear the app's cache.
To do so, you need to tap on "account", then on the gear icon and then on "clear cache".
But do you mean that your videos now play fine? Is the issue resolved? I'm not clear on that, sorry.

So, is the issue resolved or no Larry8369?
If not, you can reach out to our support team for further assistance with device and account specific information.
- Larry83693 years agoExplorer | Level 4Like I said, the quality of the video was good when last I looked. It was the first time it looked that good. This was before I cleared cache. Just looked again and it seems fine. So to answer your question, is the problem resolved? I honestly don’t know! There is no explanation for the anomaly. But close it out and l’ll complain again if it returns. Thank you
- Dylanlauder3 years agoExplorer | Level 3Thanks, I just cleared my cache but I’m not sure if it will really fix the problem I’m having. For my specific situation I am sending a folder of videos to a friend. From his side, they are also bad quality and when he saves/downloads them, they are still bad quality.

Thanks for clarifying your way of sharing/uploading the files, Dylan.
If you upload them to your Dropbox, do the previews look okay on your end?
- Dylanlauder3 years agoExplorer | Level 3Thanks for responding. But no they don’t look good on my end. They are the same on both ends. And it’s only after I upload them that they turn poor quality.

Hmm, are you uploading them directly from the SD card?
If you move or copy them to your computer first and then to Dropbox, how do they look?
- Renb2 years agoNew member | Level 2I’m having the exact same problem! Every video I upload to Dropbox from my iPhone looks horrible! I have an iPhone 14 Pro so the quality of the video is great on my phone and on my computer. It looks terrible once transferred to Dropbox. Cleared my Cache and that doesn’t help at all. Quality of video file in Dropbox is STILL awful! Need help immediately.
Thank you. - Walter2 years ago

Hey Renb - sorry to hear about this.
Can you please clarify your device's OS version and the version of the Dropbox mobile app installed there as well?
Also, what is the file extension and size of the video files showing this behavior?
While we're at it, do they preview normally on our website?
