RAW=1 link no longer working for videos in Chrome

Hi,

For MP4 videos, when I share links, I change the dl=0 at the end of the link to raw=1.  This no longer seems to work in Google Chrome as of the past few days.

Was there something changed on your end to cause this issue?

Others I share links with have the same issues, so it is not specific to my device.

Example:

DL=0 (original) link:

Changed to raw=1:

Thanks!

Mike

    Hi ItayGal, welcome to our Community!

    Have you tried accessing your link, using a different browser, or an incognito tab on your current one?

    If I were you, I'd also clear my browser's cache, and try again.

    Keep me posted!

    Tried on Firefox and incognito, nothing works.
    seems like something changed but i couldn't find any documentation about it.

    Hey ItayGal! Hope it’s OK to jump in.

    Can you please clarify for me what happens exactly when changing your shared links and adding raw=1 at the end? Are your files not being downloaded?

    Is this happening for all files or just for video files, as mentioned in the beginning of this thread?

    Hi,

    I checked this only on video files. until about a week ago adding raw=1 to the link the browser was rendering the file directly. but now it seems to be ignored and it goes to dropbox's video preview page. I also noticed that the links has changed and now it includes also the rlkey argument.

    I also want to mention that the link is generated using API call and not from the web  or the dropbox app.

    when creating the link in the web interface it works fine, probably something has changed in the API but i can't find any documentation about it.

    Thanks for the extra info!

    What’s the API you’re currently using to generate these shared links?

    If you create one instead via the Dropbox website, do you encounter the same behavior?

    No, via the web interface it's working correctly.
    requested_visibility = dropbox.sharing.RequestedVisibility.public
    linkSettings = dropbox.sharing.SharedLinkSettings(requested_visibility=requested_visibility)
    try:
    shared_link_metadata = dbx.sharing_create_shared_link_with_settings(file, settings=linkSettings)

    Alright; since this is something that only happens when using API, I’d definitely recommend posting about this in our API section here, so that our dedicated team can check this further for you.
