I have the same problem. Making the file "Local" by right clicking > Smart Sync helps but this isn't the intended functionality. Is there another solution?

Does this happen with all of your files within your Dropbox folder, or just specific ones?
If you notice this behavior on Excel files only, let me know.

Hi Megan, This seems to happen on all off-line files, although the "Grant File Acces" pop-up only seems to appears on office files (pptx, docx, xlsx) where as, for example a pdf, goes straight to a 'The file "XX" couldn't be opened' pop-up.
