It usually takes time for the syncing changes to appear between two devices. What can I do?
Device
(ibm lenovo YOGA) and another is a (Samsung with Intel EVO)
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
(Windows 11 home.) BOTH laptops
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
N/A
Syncing Status
N/A
Question or Issue
i need to go back and forth between 2 laptops, but the sync often never happens same-day. I need to have files LOCAL and not accessed only via the cloud.
When I rightclick on the dropbox icon in my tray it says Dropbbox (2) [installed twice? I'm not sure why this keeps happening] and I do not see anything else that will allow me to sync. I will uninstall and re-install .... yet again .... and see if that helps. I have no idea why my computer keeps doing this.

Hey there, AShimada1 let's see what we can find about this!
Can you clarify your end goal for me, please? Are you trying to sync the changes between your devices, or do you wish to make your content available offline?
Keep in mind that computers sync directly with the Dropbox website. Once the changes you make sync there, then they can sync directly to your device.
With that being said, would you mind clarifying which app version you currently have installed, along with the app's syncing status?
You can find both by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon in your taskbar next to your WiFi.
If you have any step-by-step screenshots of what you described feel free to send them over, in order for me to have a visual too.
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hello.
trying to sync the changes between your devices, or do you wish to make your content available offline? --- I JUST RE-INSTALLED THE APP, AND NOW ALL OF MY FILES HAVE NOT RESYNCED. YES, I HAVE EVERYTHIN LOCAL TO MY COMPUTER, AND IT DOES IT MAGIC (how often? I'm not sure) AND SYNC TO THE CLOUD SO I CAN ALSO GET THE FILES ON MY TRAVEL LAPTOP.
With that being said, would you mind clarifying which app version you currently have installed, along with the app's syncing status? I JUST DOWNLOADED THE APP YESTERDAY, SO WHATEVER IS THE NEWEST. WHEN I OVER OVER THE ICON IN THE TRAY, I DON"T SEE ANYTHING.
You can find both by hovering your mouse over the little Dropbox icon in your taskbar next to your WiFi. I DON"T HAVE A DROPBOX ICON MY MY WIFI SYMBOL, THERE"S ONE IN MY TRAY.
BUT NOW GOOD NEWS!! I GUESS THE SYNC FINISHED UP THIS MORNING, BECAUSE NOW I HAVE MY MOST RECENT FILES. MAYBE I INTERUPTED IT YESTERDAY. THAT SAID, HOW CAN I SAY "PLEASE SYNC NOW"

Hey AShimada1, thanks for all the updates!
It's a bit odd that you don't have this little Dropbox icon in your taskbar.
Can you try reinstalling the latest version of our app using one of the links here?
With that being said, here are the steps you can follow if you need to prioritize the syncing process of a file or folder.

curiously, i've uninstalled/reinstalled it probalby 3x in the last 2 years, so I don't know what's going on. I JUST did that again last week, so if I do it yet one more time (which is rather disruptive to my work schedule) I don't have confidence that I will achieve a different result. I can try, but probably not this week.

i DO have that icon on my travel computer, so not sure why it's not on my other system

Hey AShimada1!
You don't necessarily need to uninstall the app first. You can simply reinstall using the link I provided.
If this doesn't work, and if you still don't see the relevant icon I'd suggest that you add an example file inside your Dropbox folder, and check if it syncs to your account online.

Also, for your missing dropbox icon issue, you can manually control which apps appear there. If dropbox is installed but not appearing, you can check to see if you can manually add here.
Right click on the taskbar
Select 'Taskbar Setttings'
Scroll down to Other system tray icons (or in some builds, Taskbar corner overflow).
You’ll see a list of apps with toggles. Find Dropbox in the list (hopefully 🤞)
