Hi villavancola, I hope you're doing well!

At the moment, it's not possible to scan a document as a .jpg file. Your comments on our scanner have been quite helpful, and I will do everything I can to ensure that your voice is heard.

I'll forward your feedback to the appropriate areas so we can continue to improve.

If you need anything else, let me know!

    Hi Megan,

    I'm new to Dropbox.

Was there an option prior to what is now just pdf/png?

I have colleagues here who have option to save to jpeg which is preferred as we import data to adobe acrobat.

Trying to streamline our process ...

Creating a jpeg during the scanning process has never been an option on the Dropbox mobile app. We do not allow for saving as a jpeg because that is considered a 'lossy' file format, meaning during compression of the file it will loose valuable data. Primarily text in your scans would be especially sensitive to blurring on lossy compression like the jpeg file format.

By using a 'lossless' file format like PDF or PNG we ensure your scan is crisp and fully readable.

You can learn a little more about Lossless vs. Lossy files via the attached image.

    Hi Everybody,

Thanks for your input here. As we noted above, saving scans as a jpg is not officially supported. I have flagged the issue of some Android users seeing this option to the appropriate team.

    Regards,

    Ben
