Dropbox took away all the GBs I had earned by referring other users. Why is that?
Question or Issue
Dropbox took away all GB I obtained by me promoting others over years to use DB - WHY?

My plan states 2.01TB according to your link. I'm a college professor and often use that referral link for students. Over the past 10 years, I've probably (only) had 5-10 referrals that sign up for their free account.

Hey jjwithers, would you mind following these steps to see how much referral space you've earned?
That should clear things up.

I have 9 people that signed up. It states I should have earned 13GB of space that I earned. So I guess I should be at 2.013TB but it is rounded to 2.01TB.

Having nine people sign up through a referral link from your paid account would equal 9 GB of referral space (1 GB per referral when on a paid account, 500 MB per when on a free Basic account). You must have other bonus space that has been earned.

I don't think Dropbox displays down to the third decimal when reporting space. Seeing 2.01 TB when you have a 2 TB account and 13 GB of bonus space is likely accurate. Previously I said my total earned space was 70 GB. The actual number is 70.03 GB, yet that .03 isn't reflected in the total as shown by Dropbox.

Hi there,
Sorry for the delayed follow through, and I followed your instructions and this is what I got. There is not a preferences option in clicking on my avatar.

Also, this is on another screen from the Dropbox app that shows I have/had 17 GB of space . It is not making sense because how was I able to upload all that data in the first place if Dropbox didn't allow me to do so whenever I have tried to go over 17 GB?
(To the other user, the professor, thanks and I've been using Dropbox since its inception years and years ago when it was a novelty to people and yes, I was able to promote it and had that much data that I'd earned.)

I may have inadvertently turned on Dropbox backup however, I use a portable hard drive for backups. I am no longer have my business and continue to use Dropbox mostly for pictures and important data exchange with all my buddies.

From another post by KimNMike, I followed the link the moderator posted; I have no backups.

Unfortunately, none show up for me. I had a business for 17 years and I always sent files by Dropbox, many many times recommending Dropbox, because that's how I sent the files. lol
