My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't
Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned out all deleted items, but it makes no difference. I have been unable to contact any sort of support through the website, so am hoping someone might know how to fix this. Thanks.

Do you have any backups taking up space?

Hi, on my desktop I show 189 MB of storage being used. On the web it shows that I'm maxed out of storage at 2TB. However, I can't find where that 2TB is being used. Not sure what to do or how to find those files.. Thanks

Have you checked www.dropbox.com/backups ?

My Dropbox is showing full, altho i only use one folder which is empty.
Now i investigated this issue and found, that i accidently turned on Beta Backup for an external drive, so i deleted this. But nothing changes ? It still shows my 2.3GB Dropbox is full because of Backup but i have no chance to delete anymore than i already did ?
When choosing to "manage Backups" from the Desktop App, it shows me new options to start backup, but nothing more. So no option to get rid of this backup stuff...
please help me! - Anonymous3 years ago
.. i found it - i had to click on the 9 dots on top-right on the website and then click on Backup to find the backup...
that was really confusing to not find another way to get there.. - flyingboy3 years agoNew member | Level 2
I am being told I'm over my Limit.
I have over the years recommended many people to Dropbox and in return was given 500mb per recommendation as a bonus.
I've built up to 19Gb of space in my account.
My drobox files amount to only 3.9gb.
I am being told I've used 22gb of my 19gb allowance and should reduce files.
As I am the only user and hardly ever share files, this doesn't appear right.
I cannot see the size of the individual files in the drobox account, but my Offline folder shows only 3.9gb in Total
I am so disappointed that I will stop recommending Dropbox unless I can resolve this.

Check your Backup page. You may have enabled the backup feature.

For the past three weeks I've been getting the same emails that my account is almost full.
I haven't been using Dropbox for a couple of years, no activity, and when I checked I was far from full.
So getting these emails now is really weird.
Current status is 3.7GB used out of 8.3GB (~45%) - including backups and shared folders and everything.
For the past 3 weeks I've received 5 emails about this.
My hunch is that the email notification system doesn't take into consideration the total capacity my account has and only looks at my plan and sees that I am over the basic 2GB capacity.
The only solution I've seen so far is to unsubscribe from account updates from Dropbox. But then you won't get important account information emails when you actually want it.

Hi jarlefo, thanks for bring this to our attention!
It might sound trivial, but is the email address you're receiving that communication, the same as the one you're using with us?
Just making sure you don't have a second account, that those emails are related to.
Keep me posted!
