Solved

My DP is empty I am told it is full and I must pay!

 I have 8.75GB of space.

I put 4.5GB of files on DB and am told I am "out of space."

Nothing has been backed up for DAYS bc of this!

I have now removed ALL FILES and it is still showing as "Dropbox Full" and telling me I must upgrade.

I have deleted absolutely everything including the deleted files, backups, the lot.

This is crazy! What to do?

Have you checked your Backup page?

      Thank you.

Why has Dropbox hidden those files? I have NEVER seen that backup page and I have been using this app for at least 10 years.

The interface is really difficult and misleading.

My box is now at last empty.

They're not hidden; just in a different area because they are backups, not regular files. At some point you activated the computer backup feature, either by enabling it in Preferences, or by installing Dropbox and just blindly clicking Next, Next, etc. and ignoring the question about the Backup feature, which enables it by default.
