Online my account is full but on the desktop app it shows less space is used.
Hi Guys,
My local Windows Dropbox is fully synced with my online Dropbox. Windows Explorer file/properties shows my Dropbox folder is 576 MB but to my surprise, dropbox.com and dropbox app both say my dropbox is full. I have checked the plan tab and found my regular file size is 3.4 GB which is not correct. My shared folder only takes less than 100 MB. What is going on here? Why the discrepancy? Any inputs?
Thanks,
Tao
We can confirm that the most recent releases of Dropbox should have resolved this issue. Users affected by this issue were unable to see all of the backups on their account. This meant that when they believe they deleted some or all of their files, there could still be backups taking up space on their account. This should no longer be affecting users who should be able to see all of their backups.
You can find out deleted information on disabling and deleting backups below:
If you disable the backup and choose to "Leave content in Dropbox", your backup content would still be there until it was permanently deleted.
When you go to the Backups page and see no content, be sure to check the deleted section, too.
You can download the files from this location if you need to store them locally on your device.
To clear out the data from the deleted backup, follow these steps:- Navigate to
dropbox.com/backup/all - Click on
Show deleted backups - Select their backup and click on
permanently delete
Some users did not have backups, but they were members of shared folders which were taking up space on their accounts. You can remove shared folders using these instructions.

After backup removal, it still shows me that 12.4 GB is used.
On the website and PC app.
2 days passed since I cleaned the backup.

Could you try checking the deleted backups page and try permanently deleting it?

Hi, I haven't a link or button "Show deleted backups" anymore, I did it before couple of days ago.
Also, I saw that request https://www.dropbox.com/2/users/get_space_usage returns {"used": 13349025704, "allocation": {".tag": "individual", "allocated": 18387828736}}

Hey Nata3, sorry to see you're having trouble with this.
Is it possible that you're a member of any shared folders or that you had previously enabled our backup feature?
If you go to this page, do you see any backup files?

I have a basic (free) account.
I used to have almost 8GB of data in my account without any issue, but about two weeks ago Dropbox said my space was almost full and I should liberate some space, which I did. But then it said my plan is only 2GB and it was already full.
I guess they changed the space without notifying... anyway, I have deleted many many many items and the Dropbox folder in my PC says it has only 1.26 GB, however dropbox insists it is still Full, and my files are not syncing. It is like they are not updated on the storage use..
How can I solve this?
I recently uninstalled dropbox from the other two devices to see if this helps, but nothing is working until now
Best regards,

Hi silviaechevesa, let's jump right into this!
Is it possible that you have any active Backups, and hence your space is showing like that? I'd personally suggest that you follow the steps our Community Manager, Emmet posted here.
