Whose Dropbox account gets charged for storage space, if we share files with each other?

Dropbox Plan
basic
Device
desktop computer
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
windows 11
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
using website

Question or Issue
If someone puts a folder of photographs out there for me to view, does MY account get charged with the amount of storage taken up by those files, or does the account of the owner who put the files (photos) out there get charged, or both?

    dmandreae welcome to the community!

    To answer your question plainly, if someone shares a Dropbox folder with you, that folder will take up space in your account unless they create a view only shared link.

    With a view-only shared link you'll be able to access the files without impacting your own account. Refer to the section titled "How to create and share a Dropbox link with view-only access"
