Dropbox Android app not updating Word files
I posted this before, but can't find it.
Dropbox android app not showing changes to my files. When I open the file with the word app, the changes appear, but if, I dont, I'm reading old versions. Sometimes, only, when I edit the file in word, and then go to Dropbox and open the file, I get a note saying this file has changed, refresh, but even when I do, the changes don't appear in the file in dropbox. Coincidentally or not, now when I open a Dropbox file in word, the title appears in word with numbers and percentage signs mixed in, specifically %2025. Thanks for your help.

- Yes. And now I've also figured out that by closing the open Dropbox app in 'open apps' and then reopening dropbox, the updated file appears. Thx.

- dluptonmd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9Mostly stable wifi. All other apps, including word, work perfectly. Dropbox files in Dropbox app are just not showing latest changes, though when you open the Dropbox file, using word, the latest file version/changes appear in word. It's just that unless you open the file, when you review it in Dropbox, you're seeing an old version, which, of course, leads to confusion. It's strange that when I turn off the phone and turn it back on, THEN the latest version of the file appears when you open it in Dropbox app.

Hmm, perhaps it's taking time for the Dropbox app to sync the changes.
If you edit and save the file and then go to our website, does that show you the updated version or the older one?
- dluptonmd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9The new updated file appears on the website and on my computer hard drive.
Also, if I sign out and then sign back in on the app, the new updated version then magically appears. Also, as stated previously, if I turn off the phone and restart it, the new version appears Thx. - Jay3 years ago

Have you marked the file as offline in the mobile app, or is it a normal file?
- dluptonmd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9This applies to all my 1000 files which are all online. If they are updating when I sign in and out of the app, something must be wrong with the app. Thx
- dluptonmd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9Need help with this issue. Now I got a notice, 'The app has a bug. Clear cache.' I have done so, and uninstalled and reinstalled app, but no resolution. Files ARE synced after edits, but the old version still appears in Dropbox. When I open the file with word the new version appears in word. I can get the new version to appear in Dropbox by turning phone off and then on, by signing out of Dropbox and then signing in, by changing the title of the file and then opening it. STRANGE. If this problem persists, I obviously have to switch to another cloud storage. Thx.

Hey dluptonmd , sorry to hear you're still having issues with this.
May we reach out via email to have a further look internally at this point?

- dluptonmd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9Yes See my reply to Hannah who sent me the same message.
- dluptonmd3 years agoCollaborator | Level 9Actually Hannah's post was an old one. My mistake. But per my reply to her, I've figured out that by closing the Dropbox app in the 'open apps' drawer, and then reopening the Dropbox app, I can get all updated files to appear with their most current edits. Thx.
