Dropbox Apple Silicon (M1) install
Hi,
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 13" with the M1 processor and I cannot seem to get a native install of Dropbox for this chipset. From searching the community, it seems like M1 support should be available in the latest installer. However, trying that plus the latest beta build all ask me to install Rosetta during installation. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Warren
Hi all,
Native Apple silicon support is now fully available. All users with Apple silicon devices will receive the native version of Dropbox automatically. If you would like to update your device manually, you can do so by clicking on the latest Stable Build and downloading the Offline Installer (Apple Silicon) file. For more information, visit the Dropbox Help Center. If you need assistance with anything else, please feel free to create a new thread and our community team will be happy to assist.

Dear Dropbox team, please update to a native and less ressource consuming app. Currently Dropbox has the highest energy consumption on my MacBook. - a4k045 years agoHelpful | Level 6
Backblaze has their backup client running natively now so we know it's not some API limitation on the new hardware from Apple. It'd be great just to get an update. Don't even need a timeline, just an acknowledgement that this is something being worked on.

I just got five stupid, pointless, emails about "ranking up", earning "kudos" and "You've earned a new badge!" just from making one post on here. Patronising, time wasting, idiotic marketing. This is not a videogame for six year olds. Is that the kind of garbage that Dropbox are spending their time on but sitting on their hands with the M1 release? Do Dropbox really think their users want badges and kudos? What an absolute joke. I wish the very worst on their marketing team.
Cancelling my sub.

Sounds like there's still not an estimate on release or even a dev roadmap in place on this. Yikes.

Dear Lori,
Thanks for the update.
However, the main reasons people are upgrading to the M1 chipset is to have the benefits of the M1 native apps.
Dropbox is a key app and the fact that after many months the M1 Native app still has not been released can only be contributed to the fact that this is not seen as a critical priority by the Dropbox management.
https://isapplesiliconready.com has listed so many apps that have been able to make the transition successfully.Just like many other paying customers and Dropbox ambassadors, if the Native M1 Dropbox version has not been released by the end of this month (May 2021), we’ll have no other choice but to move our company to an other supplier.
Thanks for escalating this issue, Byron
